The authors of Varietex: when writing is also serving
At Varietex, each book is born from something deeper than the vocation to write.
It's born from the courage to share what one experienced. To put into words what was never taught in an academy or seen on the news, but which left its mark.
Our authors are not media figures or professional writers.
They are officers, medical technicians, soldiers, firefighters, and opposition members. Real people, often active in the military, who one day decided to transform their story into something more: a memorial.
Who writes for Varietex?
Varietex is the first publishing house in Spain specializing in real testimonies of public service .
That means every book you see on our website was:
-
Experienced firsthand
-
Written with truth, not fiction
-
Published after a process of editorial accompaniment, interview and ethical review
Our authors are people like:
-
A police officer who didn't sleep after a difficult intervention
-
A healthcare worker who learned to calm others while managing her own fear
-
A soldier who wrote from a foreign post to leave a legacy for his family
-
An opponent who wanted to show the mental part of the path
Many sign with names. Others with pseudonyms. And some, completely anonymous. But they all have one thing in common: they don't write from ego. They write from experience.
How do we work with authors?
Most of our books do not arrive as finished manuscripts.
But as oral accounts, loose notes, audio recordings, emails, service diaries, recordings...
And from there the joint work begins.
At Varietex:
-
We listen first, without judging
-
We help structure the story, respecting its tone and essence
-
We edit carefully : we do not embellish or soften reality.
-
We design and publish as a publisher, not as a printing house.
Not all of our authors have writing training.
But everyone has something that cannot be learned:
having been there.
Some of our featured authors
Sgt. Juan M. – Civil Guard (active)
With more than 18 years of experience in rural intervention, he published a book in Varietex where he recounts an operation that changed him forever.
Marina (pseudonym) – Emergency Medical Technician (SAMU)
His book captures six critical shifts with an emotional, human narrative that speaks volumes to the reality of any emergency professional.
Anonymous – National Police, UPR
His identity remains protected, but his testimony, “I Didn’t Sleep That Night,” is already one of the most read titles by opponents and colleagues.
Do you also want to tell your story?
At Varietex we believe that there are stories that cannot remain silent .
If you're in public service and feel there's something that needs to be shared, we can help.
